Welcome! The Toledo area, including Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, offers the amenities of larger cities without sacrificing the advantages of a small town atmosphere. Located on the banks of the Maumee River at the western end of Lake Erie, Toledo can also be considered the crossroads of the nation. Not only do two of the nation's largest highways meet in northwestern Ohio (I-75 and I-80/90), but Toledo is also one of the busiest ports on the Great Lakes as well as a rail and air hub. That may make the area sound congested, but commuting across town rarely takes more than 20 minutes.
The region, which was traditionally a manufacturing region, is reinventing itself as a leader in technology and research. New technologies are emerging enabling the region to become a national leader in solar technology and manufacturing with companies like Xunlight and First Solar. Utilizing the natural resources available has also led to advancements in wind technology.
Best of all, the Toledo area is a great place to raise a family. Our real estate market is very affordable relative to other metro areas, yet the area boasts excellent school systems, health care, entertainment, recreation, and cultural diversity. In addition, there is plenty to do here, no matter what your interests or hobbies. The Toledo Museum of Art and the Toledo Zoo rank among the finest in the nation. Our Metropark system boasts over 8,000 acres of natural habitat and nine main parks where four distinctly different seasons may be enjoyed. Fifth Third Field, home of the Toledo Mud Hens, has been rated the finest ballpark in the minor leagues. COSI (the Center for Science and Industry), Lucas County Arena; home of the Toledo Walleye hockey games and fabulous dining at The Docks are other downtown attractions, while Cedar Point, Put-In-Bay and Kelly's Island and major league sports are just a short drive or boat ride away. Thirty three colleges, universities and community colleges are situated within 60 miles as well as nine hospitals.
National recognition for icons such as Jeep, Mud Hens and Tony Packo’s hot dogs; natural resources such as Lake Erie, the Maumee River and area Metroparks; and attractions such as the Toledo Zoo, and the Toledo Museum of Art give Toledo its identity.
All of these things combine to make the Toledo area a great place to live, learn, work and play!
